Question Rings (in English and English-Spanish) are flourescent, laminated sets of cards that pose challenging questions about fiction, nonfiction, and mathematics. All three varieties of rings encourage enthusiasm, personalization, and thinking. All are aligned to national and state standards for reading and mathematics. Since 2004, Question Rings have helped teachers and parents in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Missouri, Vermont, and Kansas (not to mention Australia, New Zealand, Guatemala, and Nigeria) to inspire deeper reading comprehension among ALL kinds of learners.
Genre Strips are flourescent, laminated "bookmarks" with higher order questions printed on both sides. We offer them for poetry, drama, creative fiction, realistic fiction, and functional documents. Genre Strips provide quality questions in areas not always well addressed in basal reading materials. They work well in centers, for independent reading, as journal prompts, in literature circles, and as an invaluable resource in teacher planning.
